過去のある年に何か特別な、または重要なことが起こった日・・・ということで、正解英単語は anniversary 【記念日】でした。
身近なところでは「結婚記念日（wedding anniversary）」などが代表格ですが、anniversary は良し悪し関係なしにそのイベントを記念する日を指しているので、おめでたいことだけに使うわけではありません。例えば、the anniversary of someone's death と言うと「（誰々）の命日、年忌」のこと。
