動詞 （突然）消える，消え失せる

パッと消えます。 語源はラテン語で ”空になる（evanescere）”。
同じく”消える”単語 disappear に比べると、 ”急に” や ”不可思議に” といったニュアンスがあって、今まであったはずのものが視界から突然消え失せるようなイメージ。

He vanished like a ninja.
「彼は忍者のように掻き消えた。」 ・・・いや、忍者でしょう。

The man ran into the crowd and vanished from sight.
